Creating a process for change...

Creating a lasting change is not easy. It takes effort in and (mostly) out of the gym and it takes a keen understanding of one's self. This is not one of those get results quick and back on the couch type of coaching programs that you may see on late night television.  I believe that change requires hard work, dedication, and most importantly consistency to achieve.

After we build the foundation of understanding ourselves, our needs, our pitfalls, our bodies, and what we need to fuel them with; then we can begin to examine the physical aspect of wellness.

Bicep curls, isolation machines, and treadmills all have their place, but in order to live a fulfilling lifestyle we have to be able to be functional. By functional I mean, we have to be able to pick up our kids when they are screaming on the floor, or carry a sack of dog food from the grocery store on our shoulder without dropping it.  I believe that the human body was built to be able to adapt, change, and fulfill any objective that we aspire to. But functional movement, is the absolute key to developing a strong body and healthy lasting lifestyle.

Finally, there is a key word mentioned above: lasting. The truth is this journey is fluid, and as you evolve down your path your needs will continue to change. However, to develop lasting change we have to develop and practice mindfulness. It is important to examine how you react to situations, and what the cause and effects of daily life are on you individually. I truly believe that as we evolve, our understanding and mindfulness of our actions is a critical component to maintaining the trajectory that we are working to achieve.
